About Us
The Lethbridge Latin American Association (LLAA) represents the cultures from Latin America living in southern Alberta. A new association, LLAA plans to showcase the diversity and the inclusiveness of the different Latin American cultures, languages, food, dancing, performances, music, and educational opportunities. It will celebrate and share Latin Americans with southern Alberta.
The President of the organization, Jose Rauda and Vice President, Henry Bran, have been instrumental in beginning and certifying the organization this past year. Under their energetic leadership and guidance, LLAA has developed, and plans to encompass, the whole of Southern Alberta. It has a dynamic Executive comprised of the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Directors.
The membership of the Board not only represents different Latin American cultures but also members from Latino business enterprises, student groups and cultural enthusiasts.
LLAA plans to organize and showcase four major events each year with many smaller functions as time and needs require. Our four major events will be the Grill Fest, Festival Latino, Community Expo, and New Years Eve Gala. Fundraisers for charities and societies, disaster relief, and other charitable needs will be added as needed.
The organization wants to share the different cultural practices from Latin America and represent a true taste of the diversity of Latin Americans in Southern Alberta. It is an hospitable and vivid organization that accommodates the needs of the community. It will be a place for social and cultural integration, and education for, and about, the local Latin Americans.
It is important that the Latin American cultures of Southern Alberta have a place of their own to share and exchange cultural diversity and similarities among themselves and southern Alberta communities. LLAA will fill this need.
